Hi, i found this web site

http://academo.org/demos/wavelength-to- ... ationship/

i set 405nm they show me:

Color:
rgb(130,0, 200)
Hex: #8200c8

I put this in WC and using a app to mensure Wavelength

second test:

Screenshot_2015-02-27-20-11-27.jpg

My question just Wavelength is enough or will need some extra light than LCD panel light ?

maybe if put some lights behind and project with color thats makes 405 nm ??

cheers!

angelini

My question is:

Just a wavelenght cure resin or need light power eg: this wavelength with 2klumens of light ?

Cure tune is a function of the intensity of the light at the appropriate wave length. Adding light of other wave lengths won't improve the cure properties

I've been thinking. We have debated the difference between coloured and grayscale monitors and Phife is correct. We need grayscale monitors. Just go over this article.
So, what options do we have, well, NEC and Philips produce grayscale or monochrome displays and so does Barco. I have only looked at Barco for this.

Barco MFGD 5621 HD: resolution: 2560 x 2048 (21,3”) = 165 microns (0.165 mm).
Build area: 422.4 x 337.9 mm (16.6 x 13.3”).

Price $ 8.500; - 11.500:- - used, which is very expensive. Some might sell them cheaper. 5421 BB have roughly the same resolutions / microns.

Next up is Barco MFGD 3420: resolution 2048 x 1536 (20.8”) = 207 microns (0.207 mm)
Build area: 423.9 x 318 (9.8 x 12.5") – this is very close to the 5621 HD. We lose a tad in resolution, to be precise, we lose 42 microns. But 207 microns isn’t too shabby to be honest.

This monitor can be found for a cost between $ 180-300:- and that is a much better price point.

Formlabs Form1+: resolution: 300 microns. Build area: 125 x 125 x165 mm. Price: $ 3180:- / € 2999:- and that is BS. 300 microns (X,Y resolution) the layer (Z) thickness, that can be 20-50 microns or smaller on either machines and is connected to the resin used.

There are two options that I’ve looked at that is kinda interesting. LittleRP and Titan 1.

The Titan 1 DLP SLA 3D printer;
XY resolution: 37μm to 100μm (HD native pixel size) – very nice.
Z resolution: 5μm (native gear resolution) – excellent.

Maximum Build Size at 100 micron XY resolution:
7.5″ x 4.25″ x 9.8″ / 192 mm x 108 mm x 250 mm (L x W x H) – a respectable size but nowhere near what one can get with a Barco.
Maximum Build Size at 37 micron XY resolution:
2.8″ x 1.6″ x 9.8″ / 70 mm x 40 mm x 250 mm (L x W x H) – High resolution but small build area.

Price; $2999:- (orange cover)
Price $3299:- (red cover + UV curing box, after treatment)

Software; Host: Pronterface (free/open source).
Slicer; slice3r (free/open source)

The cost is still rather high for the Kudo3D’s Titan 1

LittleRP has some very useful info, so check it out.

I can offer some resolution in favour for larger build area. The item can always be sanded / polished and surface prepped. The 207 micron resolution on the Barco MFGD 3420 is on the X,Y axis. The Z axis, I am sure we could get that down to 15-20 microns.

Here is a thought;
There is also another solution that I’ve been thinking about. Imagen we use a first surface mirror () that is 50-60 % of the of the Barco MFGD 3420 area: 423.9 x 318 (9.8 x 12.5") * 0.50 = 211.5 x 159 mm at 50%, the resolution would increase (207 *0.50 = 103.5) as well since the pixels becomes halved, so we would get: 10.4" at 211.5 x 159 mm and 103.5 microns. It's just a thought.

207 microns or 0.207 mm is fine by me, I can control the Z resolution and will naturally calibrate this to the resin so that I can get the highest possible. So I am going to purchase a Barco MFGD 3420 monitor. Since I am low on funds atm, all I can do is to monitor the development here and let you know what happens at my end and if/when I am ready to jump on board a package deal with members here. Anyway, hope you got some interesting info that helps you further.

Have a nice day.

IMO, buying a used monitor is not the best idea.. I have a grave yard of about 6 greyscale monitors. Only a few had the right controller board. You will find most of these monitors use the same panel, but have different controller boards. The panel they use is made by IDtech.

They arent that hard to strip down, but you will have to be very careful. You will also have to remove antiglare layers from both sides of the LCD.

Ive gone to buying the brand new bare panels and I have a supplier who will make me a custom controller board for it.

I dont know of any suppliers still making Monochrome (Grayscale) LCD's. I think the market for them was mostly Xray viewing and new xray equipment is utilizing color to highlight different parts. So not much demand for these screens.
