I had this problem when I first set up the projector, it was really bad, apparently when it auto calibrated, the brightness was all the way up, and within a few layers the entire build had cured the resin into a rectangle at the bottom of the vat. I found the settings and turned the brightness down to 30%, any lower and there was no visible difference, so I left it there. When the brightness was up, what was supposed to be the dark, black area outside of the part was very bright. After turning it down, it faded the light down quite a bit, but it's still visible. If I print anything that takes longer than 25 minutes, eventually, because the black area is still bright enough to cure the resin, it starts gumming up a rectangle around the entire build area on the vat bottom. What can I do to fix this?
This thread seems to suggest that below a certain micron resolution this will happen, maybe because of the location of the projector needs to be much closer? Anyway, I ordered an ND filter to try to cut down on the bleedthrough of the unwanted light, other than that, I don't know what to try.
It's a Dell 2400MP, filters and color wheel removed. The projector is about 8" away from the vat.
projector black area too bright, it's curing the entire build area.

With the ND filter you can solve the problem but dont install close to the projector lens or it will burn.
It is better to get a large filter and install beneath the projection surface.
Are you working with fun2do resin ?

Fun2do resin its super fast. But its very sensitive. Maybe increse your problem.

just reduce the brightness. I already have this issue and solve it by reducing the brightness. The FTD resin does not need too much light to cure. I'd successfully made some prints of 10 hours, without your problem. Too much light and the print fails after 1h !

Yeah, that's the first thing I tried was turning down the brightness, it helped tremendously, but It's still too bright. I'm sure moving the projector farther away will help, but I want to get it setup for a higher resolution. Other than the projector settings (It's about as good as it's going to get with the current settings), or moving the projector farther away, is the only other option an ND filter?

I had the same problem as you recently. I added the ND filter and solve the problem for a while, until it burned me. I guessI have to get a glass filter.
then, a friend lent me a little red milky resin and it was wonderful. but it is a very expensive resin. I will try to get the name of the manufacturer.

Well, the filter helped a little too much. Even on the lowest setting it more than quadrupled my layer cure time, ugh. Just for testing purposes, I removed the filter and tried another print. This time not one problem, none of the background cured, WTH? Hmm, don't know what's going on there, but seems fine now. I will keep the filter around for when I try to move the projector even closer, I'm sure at some point it will come in handy.
