CW Slicing Slows to crawl or just stops

Dear Forum
Some stl files I can bring into CW, save as cws files, and then slice with no issues----however sometimes the stl files get up to 100mb and CW on my laptop basically stops slicing at some point in the process. It doesn't shut down but gets it gets stuck-----showing the slice progress as being on the same slice and it never moves beyond that.
Is there a STL file size limitation the software must not go beyond?
The laptop is running windows 8.1 pro, 64 bit, i5-4310u 2.6ghz processor, 16g ram, 256 SSD drive
Thanks for the help
