In their kickstarter page they mention a new article where the printer is demonstrated to 3DPI. It mentions that the film is stretched and bolted down by a heavy welded steel frame...
Also they mention that many displays were tested for their UV characteristics and they found out which to use. I wonder if Owl Works kindly would let us know which display to use in a DYI setup.
