A method that eliminates the vat, it builds the object on top of what looks to like a Teflon membrane that is recoated after each layer.
What are your thoughts on this technology, is it some thing you want to try, advantages/disadvantages?
I'm looking for more information on this separating/coating arm.

Sort of similar to 3ds v-flash tech from a few years ago.

Tks!
The FTI 230 V-Flash® Modeler uses a clear acetate film (cellulose). Has acetate film been tried as a release substrate?
Do you think the acetate film technique has an advantage over using a vat, e.g. printing finer details without distortion?
I'm thinking that there is more work involved to make the resin film deposition tool, than it is to fabricating a vat.
Clear Cellulose

Note how the build platform is releasing from the acetate film. It appears it's raising one side then the other. I made the assumption that this was being patented by Stalactite 102, $2360, Innovative decoupled dual peeling system (patent pending)

In this video you can see the build platform rocking back and forth on the up stroke to initiate separation.

In this video you can see on the down stroke that the build platform rocks back and forth before settling onto the acetate film.

Looks like 3d Systems discontinued it?

The V-Flash operates at about 0.4 inches per hour.

Funny thing, got Bank mail wrapped with nano translucent sheet. Immediately tested it on a UV resin.. Peels amazingly fast & clean

I think the translucent sheet is acetate.

If acetate works well as a release film it can be used as a cheap alternative in a vat design like the MiiCraft. I've also heard that LDPE works well in that setup.
I'm mainly posting in the hopes that someone with a working setup can try. So far I've only experimented with top-down but would LOVE a bottom up machine with cheap and simple vat (no tilt/slide).

I was unsuccessful at locating a liquid acetate to cast. I only found film, injection mold use, and fibers.
Cellulose acetate (CA).
Cellulose acetate propionate (CAP).
Cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) high ultraviolet stability.
Good paper on the properties of acetate. But it's used as an ingredient in UV resins, I'm guessing that long term use might degrade it. It's also blended in with adhesives, and varnishes. It might be an inexpensive replacement for Teflon film.

A clear view of the acetate film DLP printer.
You can also see there is a take up roller on the right to present a new surface to print on.

PE is an excellent mold release, apply it with a hair dryer. There are lots of tapes that can be tested.
I've used stretch, shrink wrap for an epoxy mold release, it leaves a mirror smooth finish if you stretch it tight. Stretch wrap is difficult to get rid of all the wrinkles on a large surface.

TRANSPARENT PE TAPE
Nitto PE 3415 is a premium grade, transparent PE tape coated with an acrylic based pressure sensitive adhesive. This non-halogen tape has an excellent chemical as well as UV resistance which makes PE 3415 a suitable product for general purpose.

Please note that I’m running on PE LD film and it works great, maybe better than original film on small details.
