So hes using a membrane that has natural cure inhibition qualities?! Anyone know what kind of membrane hes using?

cool,
but without a hint about the magic membrane he's using.

The titanium dioxide membrane; when exposed to ultraviolet light

Aside from being produced through 3D printing, what makes Nano Sun’s membrane different is that is it made from titanium dioxide, whereas most membranes for water filtration are made of plastic, ceramic or stainless steel—and are more expensive to produce. Unlike other membranes, the titanium dioxide membrane does not break down in harsh conditions such as extreme heat or cold, or when exposed to ultraviolet light, which is used to disinfect water.Nano Sun Stirs Up Water Filtration Industry with 3D-Printed Membranes -

Hello Dear Hugues,

Yes there is some relationship; it is about the Titanium Dioxide Membrane!

Best Regards

Sid

i am no way a chemist, but maybe a hint here about titanium dioxide ?

from:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanium_d ... tocatalyst

Titanium dioxide, particularly in the anatase form, is a photocatalyst under ultraviolet (UV) light. ....
Titanium dioxide, in thin film and nanoparticle form has potential for use in energy production: as a photocatalyst, it can carry out hydrolysis; i.e., break water into hydrogen and oxygen....

Here we go, this film when exposed to UV would create the oxygen needed for our so precious dead zone ?
but where's the water coming from ? or would the film interact with the resin in another way to produce this oxygen ? or the oxygen is coming from the film itself ?

or this, from the same article:
In 1995 Fujishima and his group discovered the superhydrophilicity phenomenon for titanium dioxide coated glass exposed to sun light.[34] This resulted in the development of self-cleaning glass and anti-fogging coatings.

i'll be talking completely out of my ass here:

photosensitive resins contain HO groups normally (I think)
TiO2 film when exposed to UV can carry hydrolysis
If it can carry hydrolysis then it might be able to break these HO bounds
Oxygen is freed up and inhibits curing
= magic dead zone

voilà

patent pending

i become rich.

Phife reported that after talking over the phone with Bo Pang, the membrane is actually a cast PDMS. A quick google-fu seems to confirm that it might be true, in that:
1. silicone has high gas permeability
2. it (pdms included) can be cast, with a number of papers explaining the proses & implementation s

anyone who still have some PDMS stock left should look into retrying this. it can be either a flex or a rigid VAT. who knows, the result may be awesome
