Re: Torque wrench for tightening flexvat bolts
@HTL Oh you're the guy behind the blog, major respect! I got my fep from you. I looked up the torque screwdriver, isn't it 105 $ ? Anyway I am ALL FOR precise measurement and knowing the real reasons behind things, so I will test this properly before theorizing further. I'm pretty sure what saves me...

Re: My new material for VAT
So, this is a highly non-stick material, better than fep ? Is it made to be tensioned in a flexvat, or do we buy a laminated vat floor? In any case I would be very interested. So 50x50 would be 131.00 EUR if I'm correct? For my project fep is not the right choice. This is the reason to make this ma...

Re: Torque wrench for tightening flexvat bolts
@HTL Do you have a "build thread" of your vat? Sure a 2$ gasket and a 10$ wrench would be awesome. I'd be really interested to look at what gasket and wrench you are using. My vat is 118 x 208. The reason why I question "extra even" tension is that FEP is a highly flexible, rubb...

Re: Torque wrench for tightening flexvat bolts
Nice work. Yes, the low torque wrenches/screwdrivers are both hard to find and expensive. But, being an engineer I always see people going into DIY over-engineering stuff.I see here flex vat designs out of monstrous blocks of aluminum, cnc parts, custom made gaskets, adjustable torque wrenches and w...

Re: Carbon 3D
I spoke with Bo Pang, the University of Buffalo student whos using a membrane. He told me hes just using PDMS on his machine, so nothing really fancy, just a thin cast sheet of it. I was just about to post that I suspected so. Ever since Carbon3D I'm wondering why aren't PDMS and salt water users d...

Re: Carbon 3D
Without going into all the speed/surface and whatnot calculations,
you could just go with the slowest settings to get a 25X faster printer and not worry about getting the 100X speed.

From the interview: http://microfabricator.com/articles/view/id/5509d557313944cc7d8b4577/new-3d-printer-grows-parts-from-liquid-it-s-like-the-t-1000-in-terminator "When the UV light hits a photoinitiator, it generates a pair of radicals . We call that a primary radical, which can do one of two ...

Re: Carbon 3D
Kidding of course, trying to keep things light
But seriously, more money for a thicker larger sheet would be no problem at all for a commercially used machine. Especially when this magic sheet simplifies all the other components.

Re: Carbon 3D
Well, I use the printer for actual production, so i would have absolutely no problem paying up to 2.000$ for a single sheet of 450x650 sheet of film, or multiple of them.
