Calibration help please!

Postby hirenashra » Fri Mar 18, 2016 2:25 pm

Attempted to print a couple of things.

A ring came out quite oval shaped.

The calibration grid has overhanged of the build plate.

Some detailed steps on how to calibrate would be amazing!

The overhung grid measures 62x37 so hoe this helps.

I think those parts are sticking out towards the front of the machine, right? Then you should shift the block a little forward. To figure out the correct position:

- Remove the resin container and put a piece of paper over the hole.
- Slice the calibration model
- Go to the tab "slice view" and click the icon on the left bottom to make show it on the projector.
- Use the projected slice to figure out where to place the block.

A part like this may help getting the position right in the future:

You can thicken the rear stop if the block needs to be more forward

As to the oval; probably an error in the x-y ratio or the projector is at an angle towards the machine.
Let's see what we can do with a LittleRP.

Many thanks HTL!

Yes it did help to a great degree. However I was making a huge error of not making any measurements with the VAT in place! I was placing a piece of paper directly on the bed of the LittleRP. Naturally things will be smaller without the vat. The vat is almost like a lens in itself and magnifies everything! So today I've left it in and taken an X measurement with a calibration grid projected through it. I calculated the Y through the X measurement.

I'm running a test print on it now to see how it goes. Once again thanks for the feedback.

I have been a part of this community for a long time and I believe I have contributed. I have sold thousands of feet of FEP and at this point over 200 vat kits. The number of complaints I have had: 1, the one you see above. The number of returns of all kinds since I have been selling vats and FEP: 1 (they decided they did not need FEP for their purposes, I issued a full refund). I offered a full refund to the person who posted above upon return of the material. I did not want to send replacement material because the damage he sighted was very out of the ordinary for the type of packing I do and I felt it was best to issue a refund and move on. In a response to my email asking for the return of the material for a refund he informed me that if i didn't send him replacement material that he would, essentially, slander me online, I see he is a man of his word at least in this regard. The people here and in the 3d printing community know me, ask yourself, who do you believe.

I an going to issue this "gentleman" a refund, he can keep the FEP.

Now I am going back down stairs and finish installing the 350mm X 350mm heated bed on the "thing" which is what I was doing before I was so rudely interrupted.

BTW he has posted this same complaint in at least 7 threads on this board, photos and all.
