I think that 100ml of the 1% solution means you only get 1ml of pure solid AF out of the bottle after the solvent evaporates. So you would need 20 bottles for a 0.05mm 400x500 sheet.

Anyway there is regular teflon in liquid form, so maybe experiment making sheets with that, or any other similar but cheaper mixture. That's my plan anyway.

I manage to find a supplier that can produce Dupont Teflon AF 1600 & 2400 at custom size.

Can i have an advice :

1.Which of the two teflons to order
2.Thickness
3.Size

I am using ASIGA printer and their teflon thickness is: 0.1mm

Thanks

Teflon AF has extremly good physical properties, just like fep film. Carbon3d says they have it higly tensioned so I don't see a problem here.

I guess any film manufacturer could produce custom sizes, but not with a 100ml boťtle. Maybe if we brought 100,000$ worth of the stuff.

They told me they have it regularly in production and can supply in small quantities.

I need help on the material to choose ,thickness and size.

I will keep the community informed , once i have finalized the talks with the supplier.

Thanks

Only you can decide what material, size and thickness you will need for you machine.

Please let us know what the name of the supplier is, no need to keep that info secret. Finalizing talks could take a while, I would like to order some of this material this week.

Oh in that case I think you can count on quite a few here, for a bulk order. The rest of us could split the bill for your sheet, for your trouble.

Well, the thinnest fep sheet is 0.0125mm I believe, then 0.0250 is the most common. That's regular fep film.

Carbon3D uses 0.063mm sheet of Teflon FA, so I guess anything in that range would be the safest bet. Altough thinner means more gas permeability.
Ask your supplier which thickness they can provide, 0.0125, 0.0250, 0.060 range, and maybe 0.1 at the thickest? With the price so high I believe we would want it as thin as possible, while still being able to support the resin weight.

I think 1600 and 2400 are only different in some temperature ratings, but I will check in the patent which one Carbon3d uses.

EDIT: the patent says they use 0.0025 inch, or 0.0635 mm thick sheet of Teflon AF 2400 in Carbon3D

How about the dimensions of the sheet.

What will be the best and minimum size?

That would depend on the printer, resolution and build size you want to use it with.

Let's say that 1920x1080 resolution and 0.1 is the standard today, that means a build size of 192x108 mm, but you need extra size to account for the tensioner and the clamp so I would say:

mininum: 300x220 mm (for 0.1 resolution)
middle: 450x300 mm (for 15.7" LCD)
max: 640x400 mm (for 24" LCD)

So with a continuous 450mm wide roll, you could cut all three sizes.
