Fumes / Ventilation

Postby kakapoopie » Mon Dec 22, 2014 1:41 am

Hi all, I'm living in a shared house and might have to move the printer(top down dlp) out of the empty room it was in (people moving in)....I'm not sure where to put it though and how to deal with fumes. I was thinking waterproof tent like this ?

but I guess electronics will be ruined over time

I could possibly use a hallway closet but then ventilation becomes a problem.
Any suggestions?

Do any of you have the printer indoors in bedrooms?

It depends entirely on the resin that you're using... Check out the MSDS for your particular blend to see proper ventilation.

I personally use MakerJuice G+, and as long as there's some source of fresh air near the resin (an open window, vent, etc), I can have it printing in my bedroom just fine.

I simply don't trust assurances that these rather complex chemicals/fumes are safe regardless of what the MSDS says. General Motors worked mightily to convince everyone that Tetraethyllead was perfectly harmless - up to and including having demonstrations where someones hand was immersed in the stuff. They were sad later.

I have a Rule 240 bilge blower
http://www.amazon.com/Rule-240-Marine-B ... B000O8D0IC

holding a negative pressure over the top of the resin tank. I work in a 10'x10' enclosed office and there are no noticeable fumes. You have to put a DC motor speed controller on the blower though. At full power it moves a lot of air and your hearing will not withstand it.
