First Print - Top Down DLP Floating on Salt Water

Postby Magnitude » Fri Aug 29, 2014 12:53 pm

First sizable print from a 1080 view sonic DLP at 170 micron layer height and 100 micron xy. Used Makerjuice red. Any questions let me know.

Gorgeous print..
And awesome build..fish tank for vat!?!?

Whats your cure times?
How much wait time between layers?

fish tank divided in 3 containers to create an overflow tank full of just salt water no resin.

Cure times at this height and focus (not dialed in) 9.1 seconds on 1080 viewsonic DLP 3000 lumens. This is def hurt by my height that isn't optimized.

Wait time in between layers again not optimized about 2 seconds.

Hmm wow didn't realize height affects cure time so much. Oh layer thickness prolly has alot do to with it too. My machine is 2-3 seconds cure @50 micron and about 2 wait time. I noticed you have a thick column supporting the build plate, does that cause any problems from displacement?

@kakapoopie the column works in my favor because i have an overflow reservoir. So yes every layer displaces but build height stays constant.

awesome...would love to know more about how this works. Sorry I know you've explained it already but it's gone over my head.
