Build Your Own SLA/SLS

Hello, i was looking for a relatively cheap and fast alternative for the DLP projector, i found this project which use a wheel of mirrors to project some text using a laser, would that be good for resin curing, do you think the resolution would be good ?

That has 6 lines of display using 6 mirrors. You would need 480 mirrors to get low (vga) resolution. I think you would be better looking at something similar to the peachy printer (if it ever gets released).

Another idea is that you could use two rotating mirror systems to generate a raster display. If you have one rotating 800 times faster than the other, it could be like the old cathode ray scanning. The rotation speeds could become quite scary and difficult to synchronize though.
If you want to update 50 'frames' per second with 800 lines per frame, assuming that you have 5 mirrors per wheel, you have one wheel rotating at 10 rpm and the other at 8000 rpm. wouldn't want a mirror to break at that speed. You'd also need extremely fast switching on the laser to get reasonable horizontal resolution.

What you're suggesting is a complicated solution to a problem that has been solved for decades.

The two Galvo motors have X/Y mirrors and scan at a rate from 12KPPS to greater than 30KPPS today (the low end would prob work just fine for 3D printing). The Closed-loop feedback scanners available form China range between $100 and $400 these days (If you're the type to look for old workhorse standards rather than cheap China stuff you can get General Scanning G120s or the Cambridge scanners for a fair price today).

All this being said, what I think may be more promising are the DLP chips that are being produced by folks like Texas Instruments. I think that their stuff is going to be pricey but it you're thinking about making the next generation HP or Epson 3D printer this might be the way to go:
