What would you recommend for users of Monoware? It sounds like you are suggesting the use of a Arduino Uno running grbl 8.0a. Would a RAMPS 1.4 + Mega 2560 work?
That's a good question. I forgot mentioning about the firmware and working boards for using MonoWare. It works best with MonoPrinter firmware, but you can use three open source firmware: Grbl 0.8a, 1.1f, and Patched Marlin 1.0 for MUVe.
You can download their firmware from here:
Grbl 1.1f: https://github.com/gnea/grbl (0.8a for only LittleRPs)
Patched Marlin: https://github.com/mUVe3D/Marlin-mUVe1-Beta (due to the motor stop feedback from firmware to board)
Grbl can be used with UNO+CNC shield and Marlin is for MEGA+RAMPS 1.4. If you want, I can upload hex files for those firmwares.
Currently all functionalities of MonoWare have not been implemented with those open source firmwares, but I will add features and fix bugs one by one. For example, I have not coded yet about homing cycle. You can set the certain position as home, and then printing will be okay.
Looking forward to hearing your feedback.
