The craft foam is made of EVA:
Also, it does not give off chlorine gas when laser cut and it cuts quickly and cleanly.

I am trying to get the vat kit into the $65.00 - $85.00 range which would include the vat, 2 gaskets, 2 laser cut FEP sheets and the torque wrench. Spare parts and laser cut FEP will also be available.

3D printing would really cut down on the waste of that one part in particular, but then again it would really slow down your part production time...

Just throwing out an idea as a possible iteration / improvement on the already awesome design: you may want to not cut the central rectangular hole out of the "baseplate" part. This way *if* the FEP rips (which there's always a remote chance it could), the resin would be caught in the tensioning part and not run out onto the printer.

I've always wanted to know how much (if any) UV is filtered by Acrylic and this would be a good test if you did not cut out the center of the base and compare exposure times. It would help lessen sagging (more affected on big vats).
