Not doubting your testing method, but no LCD will pass UV light, they all block 400nm and below. LCD's need LED's with 400nm and above to work. The color filters block a lot of light, red and green completely block it, blue will let some through but its tuned to be around 450nm so only a small amount of 400-440 gets through.
I wish everyone would stop trying to use UV light through LCD's, its not going to work unless we can find some UV polarizers.
I still think most LCD's can work with the right combination of LED's and optics, but Monochrome LCD's are just better at it.
