Re: Retina iPad Display
What're dimensions people are entering into CW for the display?

Re: Retina iPad Display
Ive been using 200x150mm for my build size, once printing is working I will adjust it to make sure the dimensions are correct.
Im having some trouble with CW though. I have the 9.6" Ipad working and its correctly recognized in windows, but CW lists it as a 1024x768 resolution and will not let me change it.
I know CW can see it as when I press connect the Ipad screen goes black as it should. Its resolution is just wrong.
Anyone else able to get the Ipad 9.6 screen setup right in CW?

Re: Retina iPad Display
Hmm, I am using CW36 and can get the proper resolution to display for the iPad screen.
Are you on the latest version too?
I also sliced an object to see if the dimensions were accurate, we are close but its not right. So we should probably re-investigate the projection window dimensions. (I think it was 5mm or so off in either directions in relation to the sliced object)

Re: Retina iPad Display
Well, seeing as no one has posted any photos before...
I went ahead and started to take apart the iPad screen. Man, that initial metal backing is a PITA to remove! Seeing as I'm not 100% (not even 50%) sure on what I'm doing, I very well could have take too much apart on this screen, though in my defense it all comes out a little to easily so maybe it was meant to be?
The layers or removal from front to back goes as the following:
- Aluminum/metal backing
- White backing
- clear sheet with LEDs on edge
- translucent sheet (my guess is that it helps to evenly spread the light)
- 2 layers of transparent sheet (makes things look magnified)
- Screen
Tried to take some photos, sorry for the bad lighting.

Re: Retina iPad Display
You did it right Anderson, Removing all the black tape along the edges allows removal of the backlight and all its films. You should be left with just the LCD Glass (black on one side, reflective on the other) and the PCB control board.
