of course a shutter is needed, I have not yet found a method to turn off splash screen
but there are no modifications needed to the lens, you can focus to approx 50mmx100mm with no problems, which is 50micron xy.

i have serious problems with sharpness in this proyector at 50xy. left, right and upper border are impossible to focus. center area and bottom are sharp. i don´t think my setup is the problem. i tried every position possible of the projector ( tilting with regard flexvat ) and i cannot solve this.

Today i moded my acer p1500 to solve upper border sharpness problem. I shifted my projector lens 3 mm down and the upper border sharper now. The projected image shifted down a bit.

First of all i remove the lens. There are 3 screw hole and 2 pin hole.

I extend them upward for 3 mm. The top screw hole exploded. Then i reinstalled it.

So projector lens is shifted down for 3 mm. Now the light goes out (nearly) center of the projector. So top distortion is decreased.

Top hole used but hole is now 'U' shaped.

ups, i dont notice cihanalak mod before.

reading b9creator forums, they mod a vivitek hd 920 to focus at short distances as we need. the procedure is similar as cihanalak did, but, they use a spacer to a) move out a few mm the lens and b) seal the gap.



seal the gap is important because prevents the dust come in the projector.

you say the sharpness is now more equally distributed? how about the brightness?

Brightness does not changed. But i nearly solve burry edges problem. I can use all built plate now.
