Re: Top down wins...
I use 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/16" aluminum angle to support my build plate. I drilled 1/2" holes every 3/4" or so through both legs of the angle. I drew it up in cad to do some volume calculations and found the following... Over 8" of build height, the displacement of liquid by...

Re: "Bottom Up" versus "Top Down" Style of 3D Printer
I'm playing around with top-down right now. Liquid control is a bit of an issue but the longer you let it settle between layers, the less of a problem it is. I'm thinking of putting a wiper setup together to test as well. Industrial SLA machines work with a wiper and they control the layer height ve...

Re: Here's my DLP printer
I think the hatch idea would be great. It should help because you won't have a big giant patch of light when printing a flat area. Resin left inside could be an issue though. I wonder how they drain those quickcast parts? I used to own a 3d Systems Invision Si2 which was a polyjet machine. It printe...

Re: First Build
A quick way to get your part scale for resin volume shrink is to take the cube root of the shrink percentage + 1. I hope I'm saying this correctly. For example: MakerJuice SubG+ shrinks at 3.5% 1+3.5% = 1.035 1.035^1/3 = 1.011533... So now you can scale your part by 1.011533 in x, y, and z. This sho...

Re: Hardware and Firmware setup
Hi Guys, Firstly PacManFan, awesome software! Very intuitive and quick for slicing. There are some really nice builds showcased here on the forum and great part results - all exciting. Now if I could only get my Arduino end working... I'm new to this so hate to be a pain but need a little help. I ha...
