Re: Any resins strong enough for engineering purpose ?

3DM ABS is also stronger than FTD IB. However, just to set your expectations, there's no resin that's really as strong as genuine ABS, whether injection molded or printed from an FDM machine. From MadeSolid's testing, Vorex has an Ultimate Tensile Stress around 7600 PSI and and Elongation of 4.2%. A...

Re: Carbon 3D

Hard to say exactly how thick the layer is, but if I smear some resin on an index card and wave it over a projector illuminating a white image, I do find that the surface is still somewhat slimy and uncured, which is different than if I use a blue laser pointer, which generally makes a hard surface....

Re: Mask - Project output only or also in png slice export?

No prob, just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy or missing some setting. I can use the same mask as source for multiply in ImageMagick to the same effect, although requiring some command line magic. ls *.png | xargs -i convert ../proj-mask.png {} -compose multiply -composite PNG24:processed/{...

Mask - Project output only or also in png slice export?

Question about the Mask feature in Creation Workshop: Will the mask be applied to the png export output (e.g. the directory of slice png files) or is it only applied to the screen image when Creation Workshop is controlling the printer? The reason I ask is becuase the Kudo3D printer uses its own con...

Re: Screws vs Belts?

Presumably any belt driven Z-axis design for an FDM printer should be adaptable as a Z-axis for an SLA printer, but I typically see belts used for X and Y axis motion (which an SLA printer doesn't have).

Re: Visible Light Resin

Man, you can either order a 250mL tester or a full 20kG for $900... and I thought their normal 4L minimum sizes were pretty large. If you get to test the resin, I'd really appreciate if you could try measuring the shrink. I'm not sure that I'd be in for 20kG any time soon, but I'm quite curious abou...

Re: Projector characteristics

My experience so far has been that I would want to be able to print on the whole bed first (e.g. good focus across entire surface) as the primary way to maximize per-unit print speed before moving on to more exotic solutions to get more power. Not being able to print at the same resolution across th...

Re: Projector characteristics

Yeah, I don't think that power is the limiting factor for DLP projectors. I think the main thing is the clarity of the optics. The description of "functions without modification" generally refers to the optics, not the UV brightness. DLP projectors generally all throw out UV, the modificat...

Re: Water clear print

Was this the Venus Creator water clear? (If so, was it the standard or B9Creator formulation?) Or some other brand of water clear?

Re: Cleaning FEP

I believe that either IPA or additional resin dissolves the cloudiness. Since IPA can be damaging to vats, it may be safer just leave it cloudy. After filling the vat with resin and looking at the underside, the cloudiness seems to disappear.
