Re: Projector recommendatoins?
On my projector (a Mitsubishi, 230w UHP bulb) there was a screw that acted as a stop on the focusing ring. After I removed the screw I was able to adjust the focus untill it was sharp at the size I wanted (4x6). I also left my color wheel intact. Cure times for SubG+ are 5 seconds.

Re: Passive tilt
Good find! Even at $50, Sylgard really isn't that expensive when you consider how many coatings you get out of a container. Of course $37 is even better!

"Any warmer and you could warp the polycarbonate - unless you use glass, of course."
That's one of the reasons I switched to glass. Now I can vacuum de-air then oven cure it for 15min @300F (150C).

Re: Passive tilt
@ sitzme, I don't have anything to slow the vat return. On most layers it is only droping maybe 1/16th of an inch. The viscosity of the resin has a big effect on how fast it falls. I guess I could put a felt pad or some other cusion so it doesnt "thud" each time. As for limiting the upward...

Passive tilt
I have built what I am calling a passive tilt. It's really very simple. The tray is hinged on one side and free on the other. The vat floor is glass with PDMS (Sylgard) coating. As the z axis is lifted the free end is lifted causing the tray to tilt. when the suction is broken it falls back to level...

Re: Solidator Vat Release Patent
Interesting read. Since I didn't see any reference to moving the vat I assume they are just lifting the z axis and letting the fep membrane pull off. They talk about the membrane being permeable to a gas/liquid which inhibits resin cure so it shouldn't stick. The slight flex to the membrane must be ...

Re: First Build
I think your problem is probably overexposure and light spread/penetration. I would try a pigmented resin and or dialing back the exposure. I would check the thickness of 1 layer cure at your exposure time and see if it is close to your slice thickness. I have mine cure a little bit thicker than the...

Re: Just Starting out
Hello Pie, I have a passive tilt vat like johnrpm described. It seems to work very well. After the first few layers I only have to lift the z 1/8" to get a good separation. As for the vat I'm using double thick float glass with a Sylgard 184 coating. It room temp cures in about 24 hrs or you ca...
