Very nice! For a while I thought about building a belt driven printer and was discouraged by the amount of force needed to release the part from the tray. It seems like your printer works smooth and effortlessly.
On a funny note, for a second I thought you had printed the egg as well!

Re: resin failure
Something similar happened to me after leaving the resin in the tray for a few days and not putting it back in the container. It seemed to me like there's an oily component in these resins that separates and creates a non-stick layer. Try putting any resin you are not using back in the container and...

Re: Preliminary configuration for hybrid top-down/bottom-up
Aren't your Z axis arms going to be in the way of your projected image for a top down? Or will those be removed for that setup? Yes, they will be removed. For bottom-up to top-down conversion, it would be something like: • Remove resin tray • Remove build platform and arms • Install deep vat and pl...

Preliminary configuration for hybrid top-down/bottom-up SLA
Hi guys, This is a picture showing a proposed configuration for a top-down/bottom-up hybrid. The idea is to build a machine that can be switched between the two formats in a few movements. The idea behind this setup is to bring the best of both worlds together. The projector is going to be mounted i...

Re: SLA Project built with (mostly) recycled/salvaged parts.
Looks very nice. Can I ask what problems you encountered with the FEP film? After how many prints would the problems occur? FEP has two major problems, it has very low tensile strength and it is expensive. The thickest film I was able to get is .004" from McMaster with adhesive backing. It adh...

Re: SLA Project built with (mostly) recycled/salvaged parts.
After much consideration I have decided to turn my machine into a top-down system. The prints I was able to produce were very good but I think the tray is going to keep presenting issues. The FEP film was starting to present some issues from repetitive effort over time and I am sure they would only ...

Re: Existential doubt
Hello slokhay,
I've had better and more consistent 3D scanning results with Agisoft Photoscan than with David. You only need a good SLR Digital camera and a subject.
Just a thought...

Getting there.
Legend of Zelda's Crest of Hyrule. Lesson I learned on this print: Never print the part directly on the build surface. ALWAYS use supports. I broke one of the wings when using blade to peel it from the glass. Also since the part is directly attached to the build surface, the first layers will be ove...

Re: Formulas for home brewed photosensitive resins.
I just bought a pound of clear epoxy form smooth-on and ordered a sample of a cationic photoinitiator to start experimenting. I also ordered Sun Cure Ultra Violet Catalyst UVC 2000, which I plan on mixing with polyester resin ( fiberglass resin ) and the clear epoxy. Epoxy and Polyester tend do be h...
