Re: Another shoe - 100 micron layers

I completely agree! The smallest I will go is 50um layer height. Haven't tried it yet but will eventually. I think 100um or .1mm is plenty thin, you really don't need thinner unless you're doing jewelry or small stuff, like you said. I am completely happy with .1mm layers. The only reason I want to ...

Re: Top down wins...

I also create drain holes but make them after the slice image files are done. I will open up 10 or 12 slice images and just draw in drain holes in Photoshop. I'll just determine at what level to make the holes and in Photoshop, black out or "cut" through an outer shell to create a hole. Th...

Re: UV with an Xbox sled

Yes, I agree with those points. Personally, I'm not really trying to keep in an ultra low budget. Laser diodes are dirt cheap and like I said, they can be made to scan fast with the right hardware. I'm just not that technical to build that part myself. I'm kind of a perfectionist. I won't be happy w...

Re: UV with an Xbox sled

This is the same principal as the Muve 3d resin printer. Just an XY motion system with a laser, under a vat of resin. You can really use any laser diode and mount with a culminating lens. It's a neat idea, using the laser instead of DLP projector but your speed just left the building! This type of s...

Re: Solidator DLP kickstarter

Yes PacManFan, the projector is in the rear, facing downward bouncing off 2 mirrors. I've seen some pics of prints and they aren't much to brag about. Resin is still the weak link in all these resin printers for the shrinkage and warping factor. Josh from MakerJuice sent me some new resin that has e...

Re: New Builder - LCD Based 3D Printer - Introduction

I've seen this video and actually awaiting a reply to my last comment on what he's using for a light source. My only concern about this type of build is that in the video, it's cut up a lot. It shows him turning on and off the light source and the video is edited to where it looks like the exposures...

Not sure but I'm guessing it needs to spin for proper operation.

Re: Projector recommendatoins?

Moving or breaking the color wheel should not effect the projector's performance. Just DO NOT REMOVE the UV/IR glass filter that's mounted in the lamp housing. You will more than likely burn something up in the projector. That filter is very important in blocking IR heat from getting into the projec...

Re: Projector recommendatoins?

Yes, some projectors have this easy fix for sure, wish mine did. Mine's also a Mitsubishi but the focus ring was not editable. :) I also learned, at great cost, that you do not have to remove the color wheel or any other filters to get good exposure results. I ruined a brand new $1000 BenQ HD projec...

Re: Projector recommendatoins?

Should work. If anything, it may be a question of brightness. It's only a 180W bulb. Anything over 200w is no problem. You may just have longer exposure times but no reason why it shouldn't work. The other factor is how easy is it to modify the lens assembly to be able to focus at a shorter distance...
