FlexVat, Aluminium

Hi, I just wanted to share my experience with making a flexvat. After seeing lots of great designs in this forums I decided to give it a shot myself. After failing with a acrylic version (Too thin material to withstand the forces) I decided to make one out of aluminum. And since I don't have a CNC r...

Re: Hardware and Firmware setup

At a quick glace, I think it should be Motherboard 33 if I recall correctly. Also check the endstop settings. Disable the software endstops for testing.

Suggestion, Bottom Layers

Hi, I have a suggestion for the bottom layers. With my flexvat (20x12cm) it would come in handy if there was a possibility not only to adjust the exposure time for the first couple of layers, but also the z lift distance. A few more mm for the bottom layers would give the resin more time to flow bac...

Re: DLP Printer, FlexVat, Germany

Hi Hugues, most of the resin simply drops by itself. Most of the leftover resin can be removed by simply blowing through the holes.

Re: DLP Printer, FlexVat, Germany

Hi Kilh, From my experience you have to have holes in the build plate if you use a flexvat (Solidator seems to be the exception). Otherwise the pressure of the buildplatform to the flexvat floor is too high and the floor starts to bend. Also if you use a very thin build platform very little resin ca...

Re: DLP Printer, FlexVat, Germany

Hallo Alex :) Thanks a lot. It took a few days of calibration and trying out different build platforms/vats, but I'm finally finished with the hardware part. I'm using a FlexVat similar to this (http://projectsinterestsandetcetera.com/diagram-flexvat/). I think it's the best way to design a vat. It'...
