Re: FIRMWARE
The hardware and firmware needed varies a bit since so many of us have unique machines. Some use only the Z axis and some have tilt, pumps, other... That being said, the RepRap community has provided a pretty good selection of low cost controls and firmware. I also use Sprinter with an Arduino 2560/...

Re: DLP 3dprinter build
A negative example is still good. It gives us a chance to learn from your mistakes and make brand new ones of our own! Lets see some pics/drawings! I am also behind on documenting most of my build but have tried to post the things that were different. Life gets in the way sometimes.

Re: Dual stepper for Z-Axis?
Hi Clinton. It sounds like you have a good handle on the hardware requirements. Ultimately, it is going to depend a lot on the area of your build plate. Mine is a large build area so I am using a 5:1 gearhead and NEMA 23 motor. I thought it would be too slow but am finding that it releases better wh...

Re: Makerjuice seems to eat enamel paint
I have also had some paint come off. I am mostly using SubG+ but have run a little SubG. I wonder how any of the resins react to the various metals in use? Maybe we just have to coat all contact surfaces with PDMS!?

Re: Top down wins...
Thanks for taking the time to document the arguments. If a suitable liquid can be found to displace the resin and lower the amount of resin required, top down may take off. Mercury comes to mind. (not really!) So far I am not aware of anyone having great success though some have tried salt water wit...

Re: Dual stepper for Z-Axis?
You may find that it can take a lot of force to break the part loose from the vat bottom. The other considerations are how repeatable your Z move will be and the addressable resolution. For example, if the finest move you can command is .075 mm you definitely can't do a .05 mm layer. You also might ...

Re: procedure(s) for determining exposure time
The file has been added. Thanks John.
It was .xls. I thought about posting the results as .csv but thought that people would have more use for the formula. As you can see it is pretty simple.

Re: procedure(s) for determining exposure time
I took a print setting found on the net and came up with 82.48 lumins per cm^2 per .075mm thickness. I used it as a starting point and it came close. I think that the value will vary depending on the resin but with my limited experience it seems to be linear. I tried to post my spreadsheet but got a...

Re: Passive tilt
Do you think that there is any need for a shock absorber or anything to control the rate that the vat returns? Is there a stop that limits the vat travel? I too am glad to see someone try this as I am a fan of simplicity. Have you made any attempts without the Sylgard? Keep us posted. This could als...
