They talk specifically about UV light. I think most of us here are using near UV light. Curious if they are in fact using UV LEDs or not.
Even if they had a patent, maybe we'd be ok because of this.

Yup, that's how a fresnel lens works. DIY lcd projectors have the lens sitting on the lcd.
Maybe you wanted to know the distance between LED and lens, that's 90mm.

Probably just a few mm. I think it depends if the distance helps minimize groove visibility. Either way it won't be much distance at all.

Re: New Builder - LCD Based 3D Printer - Introduction
So I'm having trouble getting any decent cure times with my 54 3w led array on my iPad 3 LCD (over 30 seconds). My lenses might not be collimating well or something, not quite sure. Has anyone else gotten decent cure times on this screen? Anyways I think I want to switch it up and try the fresnel le...

Re: Floating resin in Bottom Up setup
I like this idea a lot. There are some super high viscosity liquids out there like this:

Searching on amazon there are some clear silicone oils with high cSt and are decently priced.
Might be worth exploring.

Cool! Great write up, you've summarized many posts from the forum. This will surely help anyone wanting to explore it. I think you want to change LCD to DLP for this line: The use of an LCD projector involves the regular changing of the light bulb. Some things that may help: - Ultimaker 2's 12.5 mic...

Re: New Builder - LCD Based 3D Printer - Introduction
Thanks for the info Phife. I'll be testing curing on my ipad 3 screen early next week with my array made up of 3w leds. I'll let you know my findings. After removing all the loose layers the underside look reflective as well like your 10" screen. Doesn't seem to affect light getting through, bu...

The diagonal size is 9.7". I'm hoping it's small enough that I won't have to do crazy vat tilting stuff, but that's pretty far away if I ever get to that point.

Re: New Builder - LCD Based 3D Printer - Introduction
Looks great, color lcds seem like a real possibility now. I've got an lcd and a simple array built for testing and am about to buy some resin.
Since you've had some success with what you're using can I ask which resin it is?
