Re: Retina iPad Display

I've since stopped working on using the Retina display, after the last reading with the radiometer, I figured it would be best to try and join efforts with Phife to design something around the monochrome displays.

I should be doing some testing on those soon.

Re: Uneven focus on Acer H6510BD

It's something I've always noticed as well. Most seem to ignore it, apparently it is specific to the 6510 and P1500 models.

I just focus the middle and call it a day, does bother me knowing its not perfect all around.

Open Source Resin from Autodesk

This is great, as someone that has been interested in formulating resins, now there is no excuses! Really love what Autodesk is doing here and really looking forward to trying it out.

Re: LCD Based 3D Printer - Introduction

A really quick question: I spent all the day reading the forum but I could not really figure out if there is somebody still trying the Retina way or if it is completely abandoned. Thanks R. As one of the few folks that actively pursued the Retina approach, I have abandoned it. The light loss was ve...

Re: Retina iPad Display

Hopefully someday this comment will come back and bite me in the ass, but until then... Finally got around to doing some readings wit ha UV sensor to see what's going on with power transmission once it passes thru the retina screen. I'm reading about 18mW/cm^2 prior to the display... And then a meas...

Re: Vacuvorm fep and resin levels.

Yes, something like this does work. I've seen some setups where the bottle is upside down and runs a tube into the vat. It's a bit nicer to hide a tube than a whole bottle.

Makes sense to also have a shut off of some sort too.

As for the FEP, are you in the US? I can send you some to try.

Re: Retina iPad Display

Light source at bottom, LCD screen turned on and throw a white txt editor window at the maxmum size, resin on FEP placed as close as LCD screen. It's weird nothing happened at all for 10-15 seconds. Can you take some pictures? If you leave it there for a really long time does it eventually cure any...

Re: Retina iPad Display

So I haven't done much different than what I've described here in this thread, but I'm getting patterning and still testing. Very close to full 3D print, but having some adhesion issues. I'm currently trying to work on implementing a diffuser in the mix to ensure no hotspots. Some proofs to encoura...

Re: Retina iPad Display

Removing the polarizers is not too diffucult, replacement can be done, but the non-uv blocking polarizers are expensive and then there's the potential damage to the liquid crystals when exposed to UV. I think eventually it will be the way to go, perhaps a custom LCD can be made for our purpose one ...
