Re: Flex bottom VAT
General Question - If I place a thin piece of polycarbonate (say about 0.03") underneath the FEP film with a gap in between both (say about 7mm) will the image deflect from the thin 0.03" thick polycarbonate sheet causing image distortion on the FEP film? PacManFan - Is your thin layer of ...

Re: how big can the object be..?
I noticed that the Titan 1 from Kudo uses some sort of flexible material for their VAT while allows the entire VAT to "peel" from the build plate when the Z-axis moves upward. What type of material is flexible that is also thick enough to be used as a VAT that lets UV light pass through?

Re: First surface mirror, Aluminium, Glass or Acrylic?
You're not placing a load on the mirror so probably the only issues are vibration, and heat distortion. I would insulate the mirror from it's mount with double sided adhesive coated cork, and/or foam, with a few perimeter mirror clips if the bond fails. I'm looking for a first surface mirror from a...

Re: First surface mirror, Aluminium, Glass or Acrylic?
Does the thickness of a first-surface mirror change the quality of the reflection from the projector at all? firstsurfacemirror.com offers thicknesses of 1.9mm, 3mm, and 6mm. Only in the sense that a thicker mirror will provide more stability. If the mirror twists or bends, it will skew the reflect...

Re: how big can the object be..?
Is it even physically possible to print something as big as 12" x 12" with a DLP/SLA printer seeing that the Van Der Waal force is almost 200lbs with a 7.5" x 4.25" build plate? My printer uses a 42 oz/in Nema17 on the Vat tilt and a 76 oz/in Nema17 on the Z and it has no issues...

Re: "Bottom Up" versus "Top Down" Style of 3D Printer
With a top-down set up if you have a piece of glass on the top and allow the build plate to push against the glass would the resin that's sandwiched in between the build plate and the glass form a consistent thin layer for printing without any issues due to the Van Der Waal force like you would have...

Re: top down with resin floating on water or ???
Assuming that the VAT is free of light on from sides how long would resin be good for once it is poured out of the original container?
