Re: LCD Screen SLA
Yeah, we would suffer resolution in comparison to a projector, but it's not that bad. I'm focusing on the cheap-o picture frame idea. The ones I picked up are between $20-60 and have resolutions of 800 by 480 or 800 by 600. Given some of the dimensions listed, ball park X/Y resolution is around 0.2 ...

LCD Screen SLA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MS1t3tHsx9k So a couple questions here, 1) If it's just an LCD screen, why is the base of his machine so large? 2) Did he replace the light source with a UV one? 3) Doesn't this seem way easier and cheaper? I'm sure we all have plenty of monitors laying around waiting ...

Research Topics
So I've landed a job where I will be researching DLP/SLA printers more or less full time (with a focus on bioengineering though), but aside from my own interests, I wanted to see what are some other topics others would like to explore given time and resources. What do we want to know more about or s...

Re: Interesting readings
Dug a bit deeper and started to fall down the rabbit hole. Check out their implementation of multi-material SLA.

Interesting readings
Reading this makes me start to think a slide axis might be more beneficial. At the least, it offers up and ideas for faster printing! (Even the possibility for multiple materials! Do some digging on them, they are blending materials in another paper) And they quantify the force needed to release usi...
Re: FAQ's
I'm going to start to answer some of your questions below: - What causes the part to stick to the vat bottom (in a bottom-up setup)? You guessed right with vacuum force is the reason it sticks, more or less its the Van der Waals effect is what we are dealing with. - Is the original build in the proj...

Project Layer
Just another piece of software (by garyhodgson) available out there, it's what I started with when I set out on the DLP adventure.

THK Actuators
Hey all, I have some 130mm stroke and 30mm stroke THK actuators laying around if anyone is interested. Asking $125/each. Let me know, they'd be great for the Z axis and the tilt/slide axis. You can take a look at the photos of the actuators here (and you can check out my blog too!), http://open3dlp....
