Re: Belt drive Z-axis

There should not be a significant permanent stretch of the belt. Usually belt drives equal faster motion with less resolution. That said, it would be interesting if someone tried it. Motor torque might be the limiting factor. Personally, I will stick to lead screws.

Re: Possible pdms vat refresh method

This is an interesting discussion. I hope that the experiments do get conducted and lead to either an improved method of working with the PDMS layer or possibly an alternate material/method. No alternate material has been mentioned yet in this thread though. The best solution will likely be a compro...

Re: slide / tilt value need help

Have you used another piece of software to verify the mechanical function? I use Pronterface to jog things around and set the end stops. Have you verified the number of steps per unit, etc? Have you set the current for the motor? Verified the motor wiring? Try swapping the X and Z motor connections ...

Re: FIRMWARE

If you are getting numerous errors during the firmware upload it might be that you need to use a different version of Arduino. Do a search on your hardware/firmware combo and see what pops up. Example "ramps marlin error". I have a Gen6 board that only likes one older version and nothing e...

Re: PDMS vs TEFLON

The reason the PDMS works well is that it is gas permiable and the resin won't cure in the presence of oxygen. A very thin layer of uncured resin exists so there is no mechanical bond. Teflon doesn't share this property but is pretty slippery stuff and is more durable. I pondered using the PDMS to b...

This thread in Hardware documents progress to date. GG is glass so I don't expect it to degrade so long as it is not abraded.

Re: PDMS vs TEFLON

I am also finding that a slow release is required when printing on bare Gorilla Glass. I suspect that as the print area gets larger, time to release goes up also. Got some loud scarey noises before I reduced the speed! Also, how is your teflon attached? Adhesive, or stretched like a diaphragm?

Re: Vat using Gorilla Glass and no coating

Someone asked how I work with nonstick Gorilla Glass. It is not so much that the glass is nonstick as much as it is very flexible. I would like to be able to use it without a coating but the jury is still out. My tests to date have been without any coatings but have yielded mixed results. The GG beh...

Re: Multiple monitors

Would it be useful to be able to have X and Y offsets available for each frame? My thought is that you have the projectors locked down with a slight overlap. Have a black border around each frame. Set the X,Y offsets to tweek the images until the desired alignment is achieved. If the border size and...
