Re: Hardware and Firmware setup
One thing to note is that some vendors will ship Arduino/RAMPS with firmware loaded for you. Ask if there is a question. It is not that hard to do but it might be one more thing to learn before being able to get the machine to lurch. Also while it may cost a little more there is so much support for ...

procedure(s) for determining exposure time
There are probably a couple ways of going about this. Some folks are using timed exposures on a drop or puddle and measuring the thickness of the exposed resin. I spaced a couple pieces of glass and tested the bond at the layer thickness and exposure that I calculated. This is one part of the build ...

iPad glass
As another option I bought an iPad replacement screen from China for $20. eBay purchase. It is not Gorilla Glass but a similar product. The touch screen sensor is bonded to the screen with silicone and it is not inclined to peal without breaking. If you are over confidant and try hard enough you wil...

Re: print not sticking to build plate
Question for Octanees. How do you attach the micro-perforated plate to the build plate?

Re: building platform
A series of pads with supports is something that I have considered and will probably try. One of the types of object that I've been playing with resembles a drink coaster and I wrote a chunk of code to build them by printing 2-3 images repeatedly. One for the base layers, and another for the image l...

Re: building platform
I am currently using 1/2" thick alum plate as I had some around. The build surface gets scored (slashed) with a utility knife at multiple angles at about 3/8" spacing. It is then sanded briefly with 46 grit to knock off any real high spots and further roughen the surface. On larger parts s...

Re: What resins have you tried?
So far I have SubG and SubG+. SubG has about 9% shrinkage and I had trouble with it releasing from the build plate. Larger flat parts printed with either resin warped or cupped but is was worse with SubG. They do say that it is more suitable for small parts on the web site. There is not much odor wi...

Re: Creation Workshop RC2 - For Testing
I have finally started doing some printing with RC2 and it took a little getting used to but I am happy with it. The test print that I did tonight was a breeze to setup and print. I think that for many it will be a matter of pressing every button just to see what it does instead of trying to accompl...

Re: Vat using Gorilla Glass and no coating
I had a successful print tonight if you don't count snapping it in half while taking it off the build plate. A little UV laser and it was good as new. I had been having trouble with prints not staying attached to the build plate and then realized that I had switched resin to SubG which has a shrinka...

Vat using Gorilla Glass and no coating
I started a new topic to document this vat design. Regardless of success or failure, I think that there is some value in documenting it since others are also seeking the same goal. The goal being transparent, consistent, reliable, and durable vat bottom release surface. While playing around and prob...
