Re: building platform

As to the shrinkage causing larger parts to release form the build plate: A sugestion I picked up from one of the other forums was instead of having one monolithic base that can shrink and pop off, try breaking it up into smaller islands and raise the part on supports so the stress from shrinking is...

Re: Beta13

I'm using the Mach3/PowerPoint combo for my machine. I create a PowerPoint slide show of the slices (the 1st slide is blank, all black). I have a macro for Mach3 that opens the PowerPoint 79 viewer and displays the slides and sends all the axis movement commands to Mach3. Basically it: asks for the ...

Re: My Dlp printer

James, Thanks. Yea, the thing is... It doesn't have to be expensive (or look good), it just has to be solid. Those angle irons don't flex at all and I've got the bearings preloaded so there is no slop. I did spring for a nice ACME screw but made my own leadnut from Delrin. It's not anti-backlash but...

Re: building platform

I'm using a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate that I scuffed slightly with some fine sandpaper. So far it has worked ok. I did have one failure where I had a large base that started to separate. I don't know if it was because of the resin shrinking or if I needed to expose it more to get a good stic...

What resins have you tried?

So far I have tried the Spot-a GP from spotamaterials.com and the MakerJuice SubG+ in black and orange from makerjuice.com The first one I tried was the Spot-a GP. The Spot-a cures much faster (about 1/2 the time) but it was clear and I had to add my own pigments (cast'n craft). It was also more exp...

Re: Solidator DLP kickstarter

Not to nitpick but it looks like there was some warping due to shrinkage in the post cure. The legs of the tower don't sit flat on the table anymore. That seems to be common with the resins I've tried.

Re: My Dlp printer

Thanks. I'm actually really happy with how well it prints considering how low budget it is.
How about that Z axis? Just some angle iron and roller skate bearings.

My Dlp printer

It was a long time in the making but I finally finished my printer. I set out to build a relatively low budget machine partly to prove you didn't need to spend a fortune on ball screws and precision linear stages but also because I had limited resources. It's not pretty, but it is functional and see...
