Of course, my model is not lower than the build plate: the generated support is lower.
And the support appears to be generated everywhere, independent of the angle of the model.

Re: CW cannot print this STL file
I tried slicing the same STL on a Win 8.1 system with 16 GB of RAM. Same failure. I guess CW is only useful for small and simple parts.

Re: Generating Support in CW
I can now generate support. When I do so, there is a big triangle with an exclamation point under the part. No idea what is wrong. Does the UI need to be this confusing? It's like a big guessing game.

Chris:
Thanks so much!
I thought that "+" had to do with adding objects to the build surface. It might be better to add a button that simply says "Support"

Generating Support in CW
I cannot find even a hint of how to generate support using CW, despite the claim that this is possible on the CW web site. None of the topics on the CW web site are clickable, and when I try to open the User Manual in CW, nothing happens. Googling for this has failed. Can CW generate support, or not...

CW cannot print this STL file
I downloaded an STL from Thingiverse a few years ago and printed it in PLA; I want to print a small version in resin. You can find a copy of the file here http://www.jonbondy.com/Voronoi_Klein_Bottle.stl It is fairly large and complex. It takes CW quite a while to absorb it. I scaled it by 0.5 and t...

Re: Prints stopped attaching to build plate
Thank you. The models I am printing are proprietary, so I cannot post them, unfortunately. I was told that a rule of thumb was not to exceed 1 square inch. It would seem a very simple thing for the software to compute that; not so easy to eyeball.

Re: Prints stopped attaching to build plate
Thanks for taking the time to write up things in so much detail. I re-leveled the build plate, and managed to get a print out. I wonder if the print that failed may have had too large a surface area, and was having trouble getting sucked down by the petri dish. Not sure how to measure the cross sect...

Re: where to send feature requests for CW?
I recently had problems where the print stopped adhering to the build plate. I now have a theory that this new print had too much surface area, and the suction was preventing the print from being pulled from the petri dish. It might be helpful if the slicer could report the maximum crosssectional ar...

Prints stopped attaching to build plate
The last 3 times I tried to print, the prints failed to attach to the build plate, entirely. I re sanded the build plate, but no joy. I switched to a fresh batch of resin, but no joy. The petri dish is used, but not excessively. I have never felt as if the build plate could be leveled properly. The ...
