I made a picture to illustrate what a mask does:
So the mask evens out brightness imperfections in the projector output.

Re: Top-Down Resing floating on salt water
The CtrlV Test print seems to be popular lately, at least I've seen it used a lot:

You might be interested in the discussion about glycerin (maybe with added salt) as a (heavier) resin replacement over here:

Re: Glycerin is the way to go for top-down
That is good news as it may be a liquid with the viscosity properties of glycerin but with bigger density making the resin much more easy to separate. I am woried that having such a high density (2.66 is enormous) the salt will go to the bottom very fast. However since glycerin already is heavier t...

Re: Glycerin is the way to go for top-down
Glycerin in ecigs evaporates at around 180°C and it stays put for a long time, at least that's been my experience concerning e-cig glycerin (I used some glycerin as lubricant for a electrical razor once when I didn't have WD40 handy, and that was just a couple of drops and lasted about a month). The...

Re: Glycerin is the way to go for top-down
Do you plant to use epson salt in water ? Yes water, it was mainly to make a the difference between the resin and the water bigger int erms of density. Something else a chemist friend of mine suggested was wax, either liquid wax or maybe melted wax, since it melts at 46-68°C, so it should be feasib...

Re: Glycerin is the way to go for top-down
Nice idea. I have a lot of glycerin left from my e-cig, so I'll give it a try once I finish my top-down printer. Another thing I'll be experimenting with this weekend is magnesium sulfate/Epsom salt, which is heaver in solution than saltwater (1.4g/cm^3 vs. 1.2g/cm^3). Already bought the sulfate and...

Re: Carbon 3D
That makes sense, I completely forgot about UV light creating free radicals as well.

Re: Carbon 3D
So the oxygen decays into free radicals, but those still hang around (basically oxygen molecules with an extra electron, if I remember my chemistry correctly). I wonder what effect those have on the resin, since free radicals are usually highly reactive, or what effect the loss of an electron has on...

Re: Carbon 3D
Their patent talks about a gradient of oxygen in the resin a lot, so that's where I'm getting the idea that it actually dissolves in the resin. So maybe I'm reading it wrong, but the patent doesn't make it sound as if it's merely the resin floating on top of a layer of oxygen. And the flow of resin ...
