Thanks for the info, definitely an effective solution. Do you increase the tension later by shoving in more stuff (when it's beginning to sack) or do you just replace the film? Mind sharing the supplier?

Love the idea for the flex vat, easy and effective (I assume you're using FEP film?). I'm wondering how you control the tension though... just snap the lid on and hope for the best? Or is there a frame underneath to tension it further?

The cheapest option would probably be the ballhead from one of those cheap vices, but those things are horrible. A cheap tripod ballhead mount like the Benro should be the easiest solution. I have a 400€ magnesium ballhead on mine, but I probably wouldn't sacrifice it for my printer :lol: Cheapest s...

my plan so far is using the thicker one and tensioning it. Actually there seem to be several sources for FEP film in Germany so I'll look into the other options (and prices) first.

I'd assume that silicone will get porous over time, plus silicone tends to only completely adhere to more silicone so there's always the danger of damaging it or scrubbing it off, but I guess both options would work. Will probably give both a try.

I think the surface wouldn't be smooth enough, leaving thousands of places for resin to settle, but I'd give polyurethane coating a try. Or will that cause a problem with the resin later?

In regards to the porosity; do you mean the parts that are in contact with resin could absorb resin (or worse) or were you refering to the structural strength in general?
