Re: SLA Project built with (mostly) recycled/salvaged parts.

Preliminary projector tests. I am using a Dell 3400MP with color wheel removed.

Re: Another New DLP Printer Coming Soon.....

Apparently this machine's Z stage is belt driven, am I right? And not a small belt to connect the stepper to the gear, but a belt that runs all along the axis. I wonder if this design would lead to resolution problems.

Re: SLA Project built with (mostly) recycled/salvaged parts.

Thanks!! I am being really cautious about the passive tilt since the consensus shows that it is good for small prints only. I have a 7 degree max. tilt on it which amounts to about an inch on the side opposite to the hinge. Hopefully the combination of passive tilt and FEP will allow me to successfu...

Re: SLA Project built with (mostly) recycled/salvaged parts.

Hello again guys. I finally had a chance to finish the tray for my printer. It has a passive tilt based on 258cj7 design. The body is made of transparent acrylic with a base made of fused quartz covered with FEP. Now I only need to modify the projector. It will be probably finished next week. I'll k...

Re: SLA Project built with (mostly) recycled/salvaged parts.

Thanks! Actually the passive tilt came from your design. Simple and efficient, the way I like things. The picture is a bit deceptive, there's a 1/2" space between the build platform and the vat walls, I am also planning on adding just a bit of resin at a time. I will probably be running my firs...

Re: SLA Project built with (mostly) recycled/salvaged parts.

Almost there. I've been incredibly busy and haven't been able to work much on my 3D printer. I am almost done with the tray, which will have a passive tilt system suggested by some members of the forum. The bottom of the tray will be fused quartz with FPE release (with adhesive on one side) I don't ...

Re: External lamp unit

I had considered this option as well using a dental illuminator.
Do you think the optical fiber will transmit UV properly?

Re: Vat using Gorilla Glass and no coating

Where do you get gorilla glass? I think an Ipad screen has it, but I don't think I want to rip off the screen and the sensor. You can get it at McMaster-Carr. It is a bit pricey though. If all other options fail then I will buy a piece of it. For my machine it would be about 100.00 dollars. Regards...

Re: grbl firmware

Here's a good guide for setting up GRBL on an Arduino Uno, it is pretty straightforward and took me no more than 5 minutes to do: http://blog.protoneer.co.nz/quick-grbl-setup-guide-for-windows-arduino-g-code-interpreter/ I wanted to use a shield also but decided to order an EasyDriver, which looks p...

Re: SLA Project built with (mostly) recycled/salvaged parts.

I agree entirely. Besides, the laser is too close to the PCB. Without the lenses the laser would be constantly going in and out of focus if the assembly is too close to the bottom of the VAT, but with the right combination of laser and resin this process would work wonderfully with amazing x-y resol...
