Generic Sylgard Substitute $37.00 at Amazon

This is what I use and it works great and is cheaper than Sylgard. Only 37.00 for the kit. I have 3 vats that I keep coated. I use the oven method and I can get a usable coat ready in 2 hours. As long as you can keep your oven between 150 -170 deg. Any warmer and you could warp the polycarbonate - u...

Re: Passive tilt

This is the best price I've gotten for Sylgard. It's on Amazon.
It's not actual Sylgard but the same thing (Generic re-brand). I've been using it and it works great!

Only 37.00 for the kit!

Re: An other DIY SLA DLP printer

Wow, it's a bit more expensive at Cshyde. $18.00 per foot of .002"

McMaster has the same .002" sheet at only $7.66 per foot.

Both are 24" wide.

Re: An other DIY SLA DLP printer

I've ordered this stuff before and it worked pretty well. I did ruin it when part of a print detached and kept exposing the resin in one spot stuck to the film so I had to scrap the film. I may try it again. I did make a vat that is 3 pieces so you can clamp any type of film above the polycarbonate ...

Re: Here's my DLP printer

Thanks! That would be awesome! The larger the amount of oversampling, the smoother it will be. I'm doing it at 3.5x which seems to work great. I did try it at 2x but when sampled back down, it wasn't as smooth. *Johnrpm - yes, you can pick the sampling method in Photoshop. I tried them all and the d...

Re: Here's my DLP printer

I'm creating my slice images at 600dpi, which makes them 3600 x 2700. Then, I take those and sample them back down to 1024 x 768 using the batch feature in Photoshop. Here is a chart I made that shows the difference in quality when using oversampled slice images. It's just about doubling the resolut...

Re: Help Wanted! An Open Invitation!

Cool! I just found this post. I haven't tried Creation Workshop yet because my printer is still using CNC drivers and Mach3. I do plan on switching over to Ardiuno based electronics soon. I have an Panucatt Azteeg X3 driver board just waiting to be utilized. I do have a very important request for Cr...

Re: Here's my DLP printer

Hey John, thanks. I created the supports using the B9 creator software. It's free and has good support tools. It will allow you to place supports where you want and also angle them at the base and change their thickness, angle at the top where it touches the part, How much it penetrates the part, ho...

Re: Here's my DLP printer

Hey John! Yeah, I just discovered this forum. Hope to share some good ideas here. Steve, here's the War Machine model. It's a Yousendit link. Let me know if it doesn't work. I downloaded the model from GrabCAD so you can get it there is all else fails. https://www.yousendit.com/download/elNKTXRkOW5Q...

My tilt mechanism

Here's a couple pics and videos of my tilt mechanism. I just made a frame with 1" extrusion, designed and 3d printed the pivots for the tilt. The stepper used for the tilt is positioned in back just under the frame. I printed some levers to attach the motor and frame together. I think you can s...
