Can lcd panels be used as backlight?

Hi, recently I noticed a new style led assy on ebay and ordered a few. Have not tested yet. It is basically an array of leds on an aluminium heat sink, with double sided tape on the back. Cheap, $3.70 each. I wonder what you think about these... Object: Car Auto Daytime Running Light White COB LED 1...

In their kickstarter page they mention a new article where the printer is demonstrated to 3DPI. It mentions that the film is stretched and bolted down by a heavy welded steel frame... Also they mention that many displays were tested for their UV characteristics and they found out which to use. I won...

I found the item on ebay for $4.70 or 4,30 euro
We added a regular light and IR combined sensor, will use small 4 euro 128*64 oled display.
