Re: can't get my steppers to work (RAMPS 1.4/Marlin)

I figured it out. I was using the round AC adapter plug on the Mega board, I cut up the plug and attached the power directly to the terminal screws on the RAMPS board. Was the stepper motors are able to lock up when activated.

can't get my steppers to work (RAMPS 1.4/Marlin)

I'm trying to assemble my electronics, I got Marlin to install into the RAMPS board, got the LCD working. But I can't get the stepper motor to work. I assuming the motors should lock up once the board is powered up? I tried to move the driver and motor to the other axis (X and Y) but it still freely...

Re: Basic Tutorial

http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-high-resolution-3D-DLP-printer-3D-printer/ This is the closest thing I've seen for a tutorial (bottom-up). I'm currently starting my first one as well. I'm treating this build as a cheap and dirty build just so I know what I wish I did, then quickly make a 2nd ver...

Re: LCD Based 3D Printer - Introduction

Really great info, thanks for sharing! I may start experimenting. It got me thinking and looking at other similar monitors out there, I came across Ultra Bright LED monitors using blue LEDs. Not cheap, but costs as much as a super nice projector. http://orionimages.com/product/15RTCLD.asp Brightness...

anyone tried NeverWet coating?

Has anyone tried any of these types of superhydrophobic water protection coatings before? There's a few brands in the market, some targeted for sneakers, etc. NeverWet seems to be the most easily accessible though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGr0skTrBHo It doesn't seem to block any UV light as ...

FEP VAT longevity

How many prints do you guys get roughly on a flex VAT FEP setup? Just curious so I know what to expect.

Heliothigraphy, new type of printer

http://3dprint.com/7958/orange-maker-helio-one-3d/ Looks pretty interesting. Looks like a modified version of SLA, but the entire mount spins so it doesn't have to peel each layer every time, a continuous SLA process. We'll see how it goes when it launches since there's lots of missing info in the v...

Re: Nick's Build: bottom-up

Just a little background info on myself: I'm an industrial designer, I've made a few experimental CNC machines in the past. I have a wood and metal hobby shop. Owned a Makerbot 2 (not too happy with them), enough to wet my feet in 3d printing at least. Here is my first working fully functional CNC I...

Nick's Build: bottom-up

I just started buying parts, thought I'd start my build log. I'll keep this list up to date as I buy parts, etc. This will be a bottom-up build with some design aesthetics in mind. Prices in Canadian w/tax for reference Electronics : 1) Projector: Acer H6510BD , $730 2) LCD control panel: Viki2 , $1...
