will resin or glycerine corrode my parts?

Hi Folks, I'm thinking about submerging my z gantry (except the motor) into my vat. the vat will be about 8 to 9 inches deep, and will be filled with glycerine and resin on top (about an inch). So now my question is: Over time, will glycerine and resin corrode the parts that I am going to submerge? ...

Re: How to get slicer to program the "dip" in the gcode

Thanks Steve,

I may already have figured out how to do it. In Slicer you can insert commands before or after every layer. BTW, can creation workshop slice the STL using the slicer engine to produce gcode? was hoping it could run regular repraps too to make it easy to convert repraps to laser sla.

How to get slicer to program the "dip" in the gcode

I'm using marlin to control a laser to cure the resin (top down approach). Can someone tell me where I can make adjustments in the slicer so that it will drop the build plate every layer and immerse the part in resin, then bring it back up for the next layer?

How can I go about this?

Thanks!!

Vat and Build Plate material

Hello folks! I've now pretty much built up the body of my printer with extrusions, but need to know what material I could use to make the vat and the build plate. I'm doing a top down style printer, and have lots of acrylic and a laser cutter. Will cured resin stick ok to acrylic? (my guess is yes b...

Screws vs Belts?

Hi again folks, Q1: I have some GT2 timing belts laying around. I can use them with 5VDC, 18 deg step angle + 100:1 reduction gears and 1/16th microstepping. Would this be sufficient for the Z gantry on the top down SLA? why don't I see any belt driven z axis SLA machines? Q2: Also, on the z gantry....

Blocking 406nm laser

Hi Folks,

I heard that we can just get some green translucent acrylic to block the UV. I'm thinking of ordering some 6mm acrylic, then bending it, but have no clue as to whether or not this is true, and if it is, what tint of green I should use. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Top Down design shrinkage and displacement questions

Hi Everyone, As I'm trying to lock down some design features, I'm having questions about the top down approach: 1. as the part being printed grows, obviously, the collective shrinkage increases. This will affect the resin level, thus making the top layers slightly thinner than the lower layers. On t...

Re: Peachy Printer Style Vat

I want a top down build without having to put 16 liters of resin in the vat for a 5x5 build. I was still going to use a z gantry to lower the build plate, but just didn't want to fill up the whole thing with resin :) That shouldn't affect the res right? (since im still using a legit z gantry?) thank...
