Red faces in STL

So I have tried to hollow a model in Meshmixer and the inside faces are now red. When I slice the model it is still seeing the whole thing as solid, so basically ignoring the red faces. Does anyone know how to fix this? (I have tried Netfab, when I apply a repair the faces are still red) http://i.im...

Re: Supports done in B9 and CW not showing up as solid??

Yeah I read that link a while back but I don't think it's a great guide. With Meshmixer I always have to save the .mix file before converting to solid so I can then make whatever support changes I might need to make to it later. But I have to convert to solid for the supports to actually show up in ...

Re: Supports done in B9 and CW not showing up as solid??

Okay thanks for the advice, I haven't used Autodesk Print Studio yet so I'll give that a try. Meshmixer I only ever use for doing supports, but for the prints in the picture the tallest object is only 20mm high and even when I turn the detail to the highest settings the supports always come out roug...

Supports done in B9 and CW not showing up as solid??

So I have used B9 and CW separately to create some supports on two different models but when I slice, I see that the supports are causing issues. In Meshmixer when I use inspector it shows the supports in pink (don't know what pink means) but it is differentiating it from the rest of the model: http...

Re: Would a continuous (back and forth) sliding screen affect the print?

Yeah I'm not sure what the threshold for continuous printing would actually be, but I think around 3 frames per second should cut it, especially when moving at 3mm/s.

Re: Best way to produce a ring?

I would say quite the opposite. You'll probably find you are underexposing the smaller features of the ring, and either exposing properly or overexposing for the larger areas. Larger areas will receive more light diffusion and penetration, but mainly heat from surrounding pixels that are being cured...

Re: What causes the radial 'banding' on many high res resin prints

Yeah it looks as if the object was actually printed on its side, with the round points being the layering. I'll see if I can find a better example. We are getting it on both our continuous and standard dip prints. I can only think it has something to do with the STL files because it seems it's not j...

Re: Would a continuous (back and forth) sliding screen affect the print?

Yes I have a plan in place for uncured resin distribution so I can print large flat surfaces continuously. I just need to test how much the resin will be affected by the sliding surface. When dealing with fluid mechanics the velocity of the resin at the screen should be zero relative to the screen, ...

Re: What causes the radial 'banding' on many high res resin prints

I have been using Gizmetor from Gizmo 3D. I believe it has the option to switch anti-aliasing on or off, but I don't understand why anti alisasing would cause these patterns.

Hughes when you turned it on, did you see it reduce the banding pattern, or just overall smoothness?

Re: Would a continuous (back and forth) sliding screen affect the print?

I meant for a top down machine. Viscosity and surface tension affect my prints so I am looking into using a screen as well to flatten the surface of the resin, similar to bottom up. And it is for continuous printing, where the build plates constantly lowers and I play a continuous exposure. The pict...
