Wow, Great idea! I tried to stretch some fep but couldn't get it taught enough.
Is there any danger of the fep rupturing and leaking resin resin onto the projector? How thick is the film?

Re: Generic Sylgard Substitute $37.00 at Amazon
Just the bottom of the vat is glass. It is held in a 2 piece frame of HDPE that clamps onto the glass. I put 1" blue painters tape around the edge of the glass to make a wall. I pour in the Sylgard, wait for it to level and for the bubbles to go away (or vacuum degass if I'm in a hurry). I bake...

What happens when the pigment settles to the bottom of the resin layer? does it stay at the boundry between the resin and the saltwater or does it settle to the bottom of the saltwater layer where you can't just stir it back up.

Re: Ensuring Squareness of Projection
I drew a rectangle the size that I wanted the projection to be (3"x4") on a piece of paper. I placed the paper on the vat floor and adjusted the alignment of the projector and zoom to match the rectangle.

I'm also using a projector with the color wheel intact. The only mod was to the focus ring. Cure time for MakerJuice SubG+ is 5.5 seconds.

Re: Top down wins...
I hollow large parts out before I print them mainly to reduce warpage, but helps on saving resin also. Do you create a drain hole in the stl model or do you drill one after it is printed to drain the trapped resin? The ability to hollow and create drain holes would be a nice addition to CreationWor...

Re: Top down wins...
I would think that the level drop from resin shrinkage would be negligable (Unless you are printing something very large that nearly fills your build tank). One other thing to consider would be the displacement from the platform supports (not the platform that is already in the tank) as they lower f...

Interesting Z axis design. Does the slide maintain stability at full extension? (When the two pairs of rollers are close to each other). It's probobly not an issue unless you plan on printing really tall things.

Re: SLA Project built with (mostly) recycled/salvaged parts.
It's looking good. Just one thing I see from the picture is the size of your platform looks like it is almost the size of the vat. Don't forget it will displace a lot of resin when it is lowered to the bottom of the vat and might cause an overflow. Also, with the passive tilt, go easy on the speed o...
